Anybody got any idea what the top speed is on the RT Max before the rpm limiter kicks in? And is the RT Road & Track different? I see in the 2011 brochure that the Road & Track model has a "high speed engine controller". Both cars appear to have the same diameter tires and the same 3.06 rear end ratio.

Since the stock tires appear for both cars to be rated "V", which is a 149mph rating, you can be pretty sure the limiter is set to 148 or so. Thats the general rule of thumb. Find the speed rating of the stock tires, and subtract 1-2 mph. Are you sure about the 3.06 being in the R/T Max? The configurator isnt clear on that. It calls it out on the Road and Track, but not on the Max.

Thank you for the reply. I went back and ran the configurator and when you do the build your own and choose the RT Max and get to the summary, it does say that it's a 3.06 rear end ratio. Of course, that doesn't mean the configurator is correct. It still says you can order any color you want and we all know that isn't the case.
I'm trying to get all my questions ironed out before I order a 2012 Charger this fall. What I would really like is the RT MAX with the performance enhancements that the RT Road & Track has. But it looks like this model year you can't get that. If you start adding all of the items to the Road and Track to make it more or less equal to the Max it ends up being more than two thousand extra. If I'm going to spend extra I would want the forged wheels which, for some reason, you also can't get on the Max.
And I would like the black grill with the R/T on it instead of the one offered with the Max. I guess I could get that through parts. I'm hoping they will get rid of the crosshair grill this coming model year anyway. That would be a very simple change. I don't expect any sheet metal changes but that's OK as it looks good as is.
Hopefully but this fall they will have the kinks ironed out that I've been reading about that everyone has been dealing with.

Yeah, I played with configurator a wile back and noticed that same thing. Dodge continues to not get it.
1. Some folks want stripped performance.
2. Some folks want all the bells and whistles too.
So, why make me choose? Let me get the Max with the performane, call the damn thing SuperMax, Or TrackMax, or RoadMax, who cares.
Screw, it, wait 6 months and get the SRT and never look back. I promise on that car, you can have an as many bell, whistle, sway bars and the gearing you want.

It seems a couple times, I ran into an electronic limiter @ 122 m/h. I'm not 100% certain of that. I didn't get a chance to check rpm either, also not sure what the axle gearing is on the awd.....
As I ordered mine, I thought it was mighty stupid I couldn't select an axle ratio, include a limited slip (does anyone know if the awd has one- in the rear?), or spec the HD suspension on the awd...

According to this, the AWD model comes with 130mph rated tires, which normally means that you should be limited to the 126-128 mph range. could be you had a headwind, could be some component of the AWD system doesnt like speeds over 122.
As for the limited slip, cant see how you could properly be AWD without it. From what I see, and its nebulous enough I don't want to quote it, you have the V6 differential unit with 3.07 gears.

Anybody know if the RT Max and the RT Road & Track use the same differential unit?
